CASAS CAIADAS

Stunning, stylish and secluded. If you really want to explore the art of slow living, Casas Caiadas is the place to be. We have wanted to visit this hidden gem in the Alentejo countryside for a long time, and two weeks ago that dream finally came true. From the moment we arrived, owners Mário and Paula made us feel very welcome. They showed us around, shared their recommendations and made sure we lacked nothing. It’s admirable and inspirational to see how these two created a place that looks so modern and luxurious but still feels like home. With great respect for Portuguese design traditions and an eye for local crafts. It truly exceeded our expectations and all we could think of was how we wanted to stay there forever.

Why we love this place:

〰 With a fantastic pool, comfy sunbeds and a fully equipped kitchen there is no need ever to leave this place.

〰 If you want to see more of the Alentejo region, not to be missed villages, castles and vineyards are within driving distance of the house.

〰 Hello, tranquility! This is not a place that you accidentally pass on the way. Staying here means you’re basically surrounded by natural beauty. It’s peaceful, quiet and off the beaten path.

〰 It’s the details that matter. The houses are beautifully restored and decorated with a lot of taste.

〰 Wifi is provided in and around the social house, though if you want to work on that social media detox there’s plenty of spots where you can read a book instead.

〰 If you don’t feel like cooking or going to a restaurant you can stay around for dinner. Their amazing chef Ana prepares on request a local meal for you.

〰 The semi-circular swimming pool probably is the coolest thing you have ever seen. With its shallow depth and a beach-like entrance, it’s kids-friendly too.

〰 Cuddle sessions with their fantastic dog Fanika are the best. Don’t worry if you’re not so much of dog person. Fanika is only around if you ask for it.
